About Larreastatin
The Origins of Larreastatin
Larrea is a shrubby plant that dominates some areas of the hot, dry deserts of the American Southwest in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Texas. This plant has long been used in folk medicine by Native Americans and European settlers to treat many disease conditions, including tuberculosis, bowel cramps, colds, rheumatism, neuritis, sciatica, and inflammation of the respiratory and intestinal tract (Timmerman 1977).
